The unspoilt dramatic Copper Canyon lies in the Sierra Tarahumara and with its spectacular, rugged scenery of deep canyons and majestic waterfalls, it rivals America's Grand Canyon in terms of natural beauty and sheer size (five times wider and one and a half times deeper). It is home to old mining villages and the local Tarahumara Indians.
The most striking access to the area is on the spectacular Chihuahua-Pacifico railway - one of the greatest train journeys in the world. The line runs from Los Mochis on the Sea of Cortes to Chihuahua - 655 kilometres - passing through 86 tunnels and over 39 bridges.
We are able to offer a variety of travel options to visit the area from a simple one-way ticket to round trips with or without add-on excursions (scenic flights, spectacular drives to thecanyon floor, hiking ....). Rail travel is in first class air conditioned coaches and accommodation is provided in clean comfortable hotels (which may in some cases be fairly basic).
This is a trip for those with a sense of adventure and who are prepared to be patient - things do not always go to plan (in particular the train rarely runs to time).
Getting there - Access to the area is provided via several US international airports and is also possible via Mexico City
