The waters of Baja California and in particular the Sea of Cortes are teeming with marine life. Jacques Cousteau called the latter the world's largest aquarium and when you get there, it is easy to see why.
Whale watching: - generally from January to April in the Sea of Cortes and Magdalena Bay but some sightings are possible at other times of the year. Here is an example of a typical whale watching package.
There are several species of whale including the blue whales (the largest of all), grey whales, sperm whales and fin back and others. Prepare yourself for close encounters, even touching
them is possible. Imagine having breakfast at a beach café gazing out over the pure white sand and clear tourquoise blue waters and within 500 metres a pod of whales is swimming past - a magnificent sight.
Swimming with Dolphins in the clear waters - with visibility up to 30 metres during the summer months. Gaze upon wonderfully coloured corals and be dazzled by the multitude of brightly coloured fishes - swim amongst the dolphins and sea lions or even get close to giant manta rays and whale sharks.
Kayaking among the beautiful deserted islands in the Sea of Cortes surrounded by friendly, playful dolphins and sea lions.
Sport fishing: - for marlin, tuna and yellowtail.
Surfing: - go surfing from uncrowded beaches and enjoy long wave rides.
