ACCOMMODATION

To truly appreciate the wonders of the Copper Canyon range, stop-overs are recommended from where many types of excursions can be undertaken. There is a wide variety of accommodation available ranging from very simple to very comfortable lodges and hotels – some in dramatic locations. Whatever the standard, the accommodation will be clean and the welcome warm although service may be slow.

The following list is a selection of the accommodation we offer in our packages:

- LOS MOCHIS -

THE PLAZA INN hotel with its classic architectural style, luxuriant gardens and comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Conveniently situated in the heart of the city, its facilities include restaurants, bar, discotheque, ballroom and a large swimming pool and sunbathing area. Additionally, meeting rooms and a convention centre are available.

HOTEL SANTA ANITA is a modern hotel renowned for its comfort and elegance. It is also noted for its Mexican breakfast buffet and its continental cuisine with seafood a speciality.

Facilities include a bar with live music, meeting and convention rooms, a gift shop and a travel agency.

Day trips are run to Topolobampo Bay where fishing is available and transport to the airport and to the railway stations at Los Mochis and El Fuerte is also provided.

- EL FUERTE -

POSADA DEL HIDALGO HOTEL is a picturesque colonial mansion set in beautiful tropical gardens. It offers comfortable well-appointed accommodation in traditional or modern style rooms.

Facilities include a charming open-air restaurant featuring the hotel’s famous Mexican fish cuisine as well as a swimming pool and a meeting or convention room.

- CEROCAHUI -

HOTEL MISION is situated in a fertile river valley high in the Sierra Madre approximately 35 minutes drive by hotel bus from BAHUICHIVO, the nearest railway station. It is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, orchards and a vineyard that produces wines for the hotel.

All rooms are spacious with private baths and are decorated in an attractive Mexican style with wood-burning stoves a particular feature.

Facilities include a dining room, bar and gift shop.

- DIVISADERO -

POSADA BARRANCA MIRADOR is a new luxury hotel built on the rim of the Canyon in a style reflecting the influence and culture of the local Tarahumara Indians.

All of the rooms and suites have a private bath, two double beds, authentic custom-made furniture and private terraces affording breathtaking views of the canyon.

Facilities include a restaurant, bar, conference room and a gift shop.

The Tarahumara are much in evidence and an inhabited cave dwelling in the cliffs beneath the hotel is within walking distance. Visits to a nearby Tarahumara village by jeep or on horseback are also available.

MANSION TARAHUMARA, built in the style of a medieval castle and standing close to the rim of the canyon, is noted for its good service and comfortable, homely atmosphere.

Facilities include an enclosed pool and spa area and free daily transport to CREEL 45 minutes drive away.

HOTEL DIVISADERO BARRANCAS stands on the rim of the Ulrique canyon close to its junction with Copper and Tararecua canyons. See Canyon Map.

All rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with two double beds and coffee maker. Some rooms have balconies affording magnificent views of the three canyons.

Spectacular guided tours deep into the valleys on horseback or on foot, are available.

- CREEL -

HOTEL VILLA MEXICANA is a complex comprising a main building or club house, a KOA campground and an RV Park. It is set in 9 acres of attractive grounds and displays a successful blend of Mexican-style architecture and Tarahumara Indian culture.

In the club house there is a comfortable lounge, a restaurant/buffet and a bar where live entertainment is offered in the evenings. There is also a laundry and fully equipped restrooms and private dressing rooms open 24 hours a day.

Well appointed 4–6 berth cabins, built from local timber, provide accommodation in the grounds, and pitches for tents are also available.

BEST WESTERN, THE LODGE provides its guests with comfortable accommodation in well-appointed log cabins linked to a traditional stone-built mountain lodge.

Included among the facilities in the lodge are a bar, lounge and restaurant and all cabins have tea or coffee makers, television, gas fireplaces and their own private porches. A concierge, room service and laundry/valet service are also available.

In addition to the pool and fitness centre there is a playground attached to the hotel and an RV parking area.

- CHIHUAHUA -

CASA GRANDE, conveniently located close to the centre of Chihuahua offers high quality accommodation in spacious, recently renovated rooms.

Facilities include, lounge, bar, restaurant and coffee shop, a full business centre, outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts.

A fitness centre and games room are also available.
